I need help using the program if any one here uses it!?

 

I have inserted an image from my library and theres a + symbol in top left corner of that image..

 

Now if i try to align it to the center of the image i click align "to stage" then i click vertically and horizontally align... then it becomes center of the image.. how ever what happens if the image is what is being aligned rather than the + symbol.

 

So my image ends up in the wrong place.. what should happen is the image stays where I put it and the + symbols gets centered to the image..

 

I'm doing this so i can use proximity with the image.. but i can't even do the simple bit.. any help is much appreciated.
