A couple questions about MSSQL functions.

I am trying to convert some software that currently runs MySQL to run MS SQL, but need some help with creating a method that is similar to mysql_real_escape_string.  I don't fully understand what is going on with the MySQL version, which is why I'm struggling to create the method for MS SQL.  Has anyone written this method already?

 

Also, is there anything we can do to compare to MySQL's Client Encoding method?
