richo1
Hi. I am having an absolute nightmare using the unlink function to delete a file. I get a "Permission denied" warning message and it does not delete the file. Locally, i was using ISS and was able to kind of bodge / fix it by setting the folder's Sharing properties to: "share this folder on the network" "Allow network users to change my files" However. When I started working the live web space which is a windows based server, I got the same permissions problems all over again! As it's on the host, I can't use the bodge I used locally to resolve the problem. Has anyone got any ideas as I am completely stuck!? rajivgonsalves
how did you create the folder.. was it through ftp.. if so loggin to ftp and set the mode to 777 but since its a windows server I am not too sure it would work.. but its worth a try... richo1
Yes, through FTP. I tried setting the folder permissions to 777 but they keep reverting back to 666 when i click "ok". So i can't really tell if this solution works or not. I still get the same errors. rajivgonsalves
since its a windows machine your host must be having remote access... RDS... you can login through that and check... also if you have cpanel installed you can do it through that... that would get the permission right.. rajivgonsalves
Well then I only way out is to contact your server administrator and let him know which folder you want the permission to be set.. mostly all hosting provider provide online support so it should be easy... richo1
Thanks for your help! I explained the problem to the hosting support and they added 'delete permissions' to the folder. It now works.
