Warning: getimagesize([path to jpeg image]) [function.getimagesize]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in [path of php file]

Basically when I upload an image to my server it gets a file permission of 204 despite the images dir (where the images get uploaded to) having a directory/folder permission of 777.  I also use chmod([path], 0755) on the image file uploaded but this has no effect at all. (Chmod is not restricted as it does not give an error) The image files still retain their 204 settings.

After uploading the images I need to create a thumb out of them and that’s when am getting the error cos my tumb creation function cannot read the image files due to the access restrictions.

Anyway to get rid of this? or make sure my images get a permission of at least 755 or 644 ?

Many thanks
