nsdhami Posted January 18, 2008 Share Posted January 18, 2008 I am getting problem with inserting and selecting japanese data to/from MS-SQL 2005. For testing, I created table with two columns of varchar and nvarchar datatypes. So, when I tried to access column of nvarchar datatype, I got error messages as: "Unicode data in a Unicode-only collation or ntext data cannot be sent to clients using DB-Library (such as ISQL) or ODBC version 3.7 or earlier." and When I tried to access column of varchar then, I got the data as "????????" instead of some japanese characters. Cep Posted January 18, 2008 Share Posted January 18, 2008 If your going to use Japanese chars you need to set your charset in your MSSQL instance to a Japanese character set otherwise your going to get odd characters instead of the ones you intend to see.
