php-dom not present ?

I have:

Apache/1.3.39

PHP 5.2.1

libXML is present and enabled:

libXML support active

libXML Version 2.6.26

libXML streams enabled

yet when I use the domdocument constructor:

$dom = new DOMDocument();

I get the following error:

Fatal error: Class 'DOMDocument' not found in /home/u2/euahr/blah.com/html/xmlParser.php on line 48

Any ideas?
