Hi Guys,

Im going to be working on a project in which I need to create a web interface, from where the user will select a file from their hard disk, hit upload..the first 30 secs of the file (it will be an audio .mp3 file) is taken and stored in a database.

I have used .php to upload various file types to a sql db before, but dont have experience with modifying the file before its stored.  At the moment im just researching into this so any ideas are welcome.  Is php capable of carrying out this function ? Or would I need to look into Java / servlets?

Any help appreciated.
