mysql and wamp

i have wamp running i set up a mysql database called robert created a html form which goes to an insert form but returns an error message of

 

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'robert'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in C:\wamp\www\Website\insert.php on line 2

Could not connect: Access denied for user 'robert'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

 

this is my html form

<form action="insert.php" method="post">

Firstname: <input type="text" name="firstname" />

<input type="submit" />

</form>

 

 

this is my insert page

wamp has no password setup both pages are very simple i am just starting with this and i dont know what i have done wrong can someone help please

your code should be

$con = mysql_connect("localhost","root","") or   die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error());
mysql_select_db("robert", $con);

$sql="INSERT INTO robert (FirstName) VALUES ('{$_POST['firstname']}')";
mysql_query($sql,$con) or die('Error: ' . mysql_error());
echo "1 record added";mysql_close($con)
?>
