scottm.a
I'm installing MySQL on Vista, and at the end of the installation, when it's supposed to open up the configuration wizard, it doesn't. So when I try to open it, it's giving me this error saying the side-by-side configuration is wrong. Is it not instalilng properly? I have already installed Apache and PHP and I need to have MySQL running with the two just for development purposes. All help is appreciated. Thanks
PHP Monkeh
Use the previous edition of MySQL. For some reason the latest release isn't working on Vista. You can find the previous version in the archives here: http://downloads.mysql.com/archives.php

PHP Monkeh
I did just help you, and give you a working solution - from your reply it doesn't even look like you read it.
scottm.a
ackward when I posted that I didn't even see a reply, we must have been typing that at the same time or something =-o anyways, thanks man!
PHP Monkeh
No worries, aslong as the solution works! Which it does, because I had the same issue the other week when trying to install the latest MySQL release on Vista. I wonder if they just couldn't be bothered to test it on Vista. php_dave
You can also fix this with a hack of the mysqlinstanceconfig.exe if you need the most recent version - details here - > http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?11,195569,195569#msg-195569 HTH Dave
