Aureole
I'm working on a little Forum and I'm wanting to implement a feature, but I'm not sure how best to approach it. On many popular Forum softwares, when you are viewing the topic listing a small icon is showed next to topics. The icon lets you know that there are new posts within that topic, after your last post. Also if a topic has been posted, with no replies and you haven't yet read it... then the icon is shown. Now I have an idea how to do it, but it would mean when there are a LOT of topics... it would most likely create a lot of overhead. Any ideas, suggestions? Aureole
It was a while since I posted this and there have been no replies. *Insert sneaky bump* Bumping is allowed after 24 Hours with no replies, as far as I know. Feel free to correct me however if I'm wrong.
willpower
id log when the user has posted something and measure that against all posts, then just show the icon(s) of posts that have a date/time after the users logged posting date/time
Aureole
Thanks a lot, I'll leave this unsolved until I actually try what you suggested, just in case.
