Possible to make a mt_rand in database

Hey!

 

I am trying to make a mt_rand function. if the user is level 1, he will hit btw 1,30. if he is level 2, he will hit btw 2, 32 and so on. But it ain't working.

 

Here is the code for level 1:

$theenemy =("SELECT * FROM characters WHERE user='$atkuser'")or die(mysql_error());   
$Enemydmg = mysql_fetch_assoc(mysql_query($theenemy));

if($Enemydmg['level']== 1){
$enemyDmg =mt_rand(1,30);
}
?>

 

Now the thing i want to do is, to use that variable as Enemy dmg in my attackscript.. but it don't work. It can't get the value. And yes, I am trying to include the file, but still, it can't get the value of the variable =/
