Dreamwaever basic user vs root user

Dreamweaver 7.0.1 and PHP 5.1.2 and Mysql 5.0.18- I use a basic user for my connection which has select, update and insert rights to database. When I try to view my web page in Internet Explorer all I get is a blank screen. When I use root as the user. The web page then displays correctly with the forms for input. I can see database and tables in Dreamweaver and I know that my basic user can access the database thru a MySQL query browser and also can insert, update or select data with no problems. What is stopping me from using a basic user in Dreamweaver or is this a php issue?
