Upgrading from php 4.4.7 to 5.2.5 on CentOS 5?

I am a bit newer to linux command line, does anyone have a good guide on upgrading PHP versions using CentOS 5? I'm trying to ugprade from 4.4.7 to 5.2.5.

 

Apache/1.3.39 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.8.30 OpenSSL/0.9.8b PHP/4.4.7 mod_perl/1.29 FrontPage/5.0.2.2510

 

Should probably upgrade apache version too, but I am not sure how to do this either. Help would be greatly appreciated.
