How many characters can be received when getting a text message? If too many are sent, will the message be broken up and sent in two messages or will the rest be discarded? khristian Posted February 29, 2008 Share Posted February 29, 2008 The normal length of one SMS message is 160 characters. I would imagine that anything more than 160 would be split into two messages, or if supported (as most are now) it would just become one long message, the same as when you send a long sms from your mobile.
