trilbyfish Posted March 2, 2008 Share Posted March 2, 2008 I have a mysql table with columns `baynumber`, `08:00 - 09:00`, `09:00 - 10:00`, `10:00 - 11:00`, `11:00 - 12:00`, `12:00 - 13:00`, `13:00 - 14:00`, `14:00 - 15:00`, `15:00 - 16:00`, `16:00 - 17:00` , but how can i replace a blank value in all of these columns with something such as 'empty'. I think the COALESCE function is needed but i cant figure out how to use it in a table with more than a few columns. UPDATE tablename SET column1 = 'value' WHERE calumn1 IS NULL If you need this for all columns then you could always select * and return column names and loop through the above query with the column name as a variable.
