Kuroda_Shun
I have a server that has PHP installed, every thing works fine (although I would love to get postfix set up) Anyway, my wife and I want to communicate through a forum type of setup. All she'll have to do is hit refresh and my message will show up. vice versa. I realize that mail would be simpler, but when I send a message from work it takes hours to show up there. (MS Exchange server) DoD filters Is there a simple form that I can set up? one where I can reply to what I read, submit and it shows up below what I just read? Would this be easier said than done? Thanks for your help and If I didn,t get the question out properly than I can ask it again.
revraz
Just install PHPBB
Kuroda_Shun
I already tried that. I couldn't get it to work. It says "You need to install a configuration file in /etc/phpbb2/config.php to tell phpbb where its database can be found. Install phpbb2-conf-mysql to have a database setup automatically, or see /usr/share/doc/phpbb2/README.Debian for information on how to make one yourself." I am so not qualified to go jacking with MySQL yet, I don't have a clue.. But I am reading, and well, I still don't quite catch on to it. So thats why I came here to ask if there was just some text box code I could use.
revraz
Well any other script you find that deals with messages will use a DB of some kind, so you need to understand them either way. If you read the install instructions for PHPBB, it's not that hard. You just need to enter the information it asks. It usually only consists of a DB name, id name, pw and server name. If you don't know that, then nothing we give you will help.
Kuroda_Shun
It would have gone easy without a hitch except I think I made the mistake of installing phpmyadmin instead of the phpbb-config file. I did manage to create a db but it wanted me to create tables after that. I didn't know what tables were nor was it in the instructions. So I packed it in for now. Is there an easier instruction list out there that I can read?
