atl_andy Posted April 4, 2008 Share Posted April 4, 2008 The layout: function modelDropDown(ID, Param) { var loaderphp = "modelDropDown.php"; ... xhr ... xmlHttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if(xmlHttp.readyState==4) { document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML = xmlHttp.responseText; } } xmlHttp.open("GET", loaderphp+"?ID="+ID+"&Param="+Param,true); xmlHttp.send(null); } function mfrDropDown(ID, Param) { var loaderphp = "mfrDropDown.php"; ... xhr ... xmlHttp.onreadystatechange=function() { if(xmlHttp.readyState==4) { document.getElementById(ID).innerHTML = xmlHttp.responseText; } } xmlHttp.open("GET", loaderphp+"?ID="+ID+"&Param="+Param,true); xmlHttp.send(null); } <select name="partnumber" onchange="modelDropDown('Model',this.value);"> ... part number dropdown .... </select> <select name="modelnumber" id="Model" onchage="mfrDropDown('Mfr',this.value);"> // How to get the value for part number to be this.value? ... value based on part number dropdown ... </select> <select name="manufacturer" id="Mfr" > ... value based on part number dropdown // Is what I want to happen </select> I have 3 select menus. The first is partnumber, which populates modelnumber when changed. How can I get the value for partnumber to be this.value in the manufacturer dropdown? The 2nd and 3rd dropdowns (model and mfr) need to be changed based on the partnumber. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
we4freelance Posted April 6, 2008 Share Posted April 6, 2008 I think you should use document.getElementsByName("partnumber").value to get its value in dropdown modelnumber. Hope this helps. Thanks. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
