    Why don't you just use the rand() function to generate the 5 digit random ID. I believe there is also a function called mt_rand() that generates letters too. That should work just fine, not sure about the timestamp.

    OOP really isn't that hard. It's all about classes and functions, and than referencing to it in another file.
