Thanks. Yeah, I'm actually trying to compile a different extension, not xdebug. But the steps/error messages/everything is the same as above. I'm hoping it's a build environment issue that's easily resolvable.

I am having the same problem. phpsize succeeds, but configure errors with PHP_PGI undefined. You said that you managed to successfully compile the extension dynamically after all... how did you achieve this?
