Thank you both for the help. I had assumed it was some kind of version control system, since the filename, version, date and author were all listed in the expression, but I was unable to see how it would work. It makes perfect sense now. Thanks again.

I see this often in open source scripts, but am at a loss to understand what it is for or how it is used: /*   $Id: page_header.php,v 1.106.2.25 2005/10/30 15:17:14 acydburn Exp $ */ Can someone explain its purpose please? Many thanks.
