  1. I figured it out. he is running both versions. So I needed to rename my .php extensions to .php5 so that I can run my mysqli functions.
  2. thanks ...........that pulled up the php 5 info. so I just figured out I need to rename my php extensionsions to .php5 for it to work on the web server in production but for my local machine for testing I need it to be .php for it to run. Can I fix this anyway? Or what would be the easist wat you can recommend?
  3. If I just did phpinfo(); and phpinfo('cgi'); and they both show php 4 info pages. Does this GUARANTEE me that the web hosting company hosting our web pages is running php 4?? He says he is running 4 and 5 but I am starting to disagree.
  4. No. die() accepts a string. OH.....but it still redirects me to the error page??
  5. OK. I just did phpinfo(); and phpinfo('cgi'); and the ybot hshow php 4. Does this guarantee me that I am running php 4?? Also, you can die a header I do it all the time.
  6. OK, when I type in phpinfo(); it pulls up php 4. Does this guarantee me I am running php 4 or could I be running php 5 on the side?? Because the guy running the web server says his sysadmin shows 4 and 5 side by side but I pull php 4 from the domain. I am starting to think this guy dont know what he is doing and he has php 4 running but I am still learning this so I am not sure. can someone help me with this?
  7. I am trying to run some php code on our web hosting company's server but I keep getting blank pages. He says, "According to my sysadmin it's running both 4 and 5 side by side and will display the earlier version in the phpinfo() which is php 4." All my php pages works on my loacl machine just not the company's web server. The guy that runs the company says he dont know what esle to do in troubleshooting. He says it is usually the syntax error that gives blank pages but I cant see that to be because it works fine locally. Can someone give me any ideas? I keep getting a blank page when I try to run a simple databse connection string that should definiely redirect to the error page but it wont. Which also works on my local machine. <?php $mysqli = @mysqli_connect("server", "username", "password", "database") or die(header("Location: error.html")); ?> But when I use Dreamweaver to connect to the database it connects just this connection string seems to not work and other php code ddealing with the database. But I did get an error to display when it was ttime to execute the mysqli funtion. "Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysqli_real_escape_string() in /home/content/L/a/n/Langley/html/userlogin_e.php on line 12" Can someone tell me this error is happening becasue mysqli functions is disabled or the $mysqli connection string is not getting executed which it wasn't? Or it could be both reasons? Do you think he is actually running php 5 or mysqli functions and/or disabled? Is it possible to run 4 and 5 at the sametime?
  8. Yes, thanks for all the replies. I have the company hosting our websites looking into it. As soon as I found out what the solution is I will post it.
  9. would this type of connection string work on a linux hosting //$mysqli = @mysqli_connect("server", "username", "password", "database") or die(header("Location: error.html")); if not that may the problem becasue I am using windows to host Apache and the company is using Linux hosting
  10. no, because we have someone else hosting the site and I never done that before(turn error checking off). I am not asking if the code is correct that was posted previously. My problem is I keep getting theses blank pages when I host the php pages through someone elses web server but when I host it locally they run fine??? He says he has php 5 installed same as me. and he insist its my syntax which I doubt it. But I think it may be my connection string? not sure I am troubleshooting that right now. Unless someone else here thinks it can be something else?
  11. if I have a code with this in it ........ $auth = @mysqli_query($mysqli,$val) or die(header("Location: error.html")); and the error feature is turned off on the server would I still get a blank page if i have a syntax error in the code or will it redirect me to the error.html page.
  12. I think I know why that one web site dont work its because of the code in the web pages for that site.
  13. Finally.........I have three of my websites somewhat working with the multiple directory way. I have 4 websites. They all have an index page. One of them pulls up like a normal website. two of them list the contents/web files and you have to click on the index file to start previewing the website like you normally would. But one website lists the contents and when you click on the index page the links within that index page dont work they seem to be broken. I am not sure why?
  14. yea, my netwrok admin says something like that we needed to point to each website. well when I use directories for each website they all dont view properly, only my default website does. The websites that are not the default shows each web file in a list through the browser like a file server and when I click on that web file the page does show but the links on that page get broken and does not show up at all when I click on them.
  15. I have a stand alone PC that is running apache and the computer name is osiweb. I have this server on a local domain so we can test the websites via web on our internal network. I have virtual hosts set up on three websites but only my default/virtual website shows up. here are my settings:C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DOMAIN1>httpd -S VirtualHost configuration: Syntax OK C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DOMAIN1>httpd -S VirtualHost configuration: wildcard NameVirtualHosts and _default_ servers: *:80 is a NameVirtualHost default server kilopak.com (C:/www/Apache22/conf/httpd.conf:193) port 80 namevhost kilopak.com (C:/www/Apache22/conf/httpd.conf:193) port 80 namevhost awi.com (C:/www/Apache22/conf/httpd.conf:212) port 80 namevhost reagan.com (C:/www/Apache22/conf/httpd.conf:231) Syntax OK C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DOMAIN1> ---------------------------------------------- Can I access these websites like this? If so, this is not working. only kilopak shows up which seems to be the default server. http://osiweb/www/vhosts/kilopak http://osiweb/www/vhosts/reagan http://osiweb/www/vhosts/awi Or do I need to give them local domain names so I can access them?
  16. well I never did get virtual host to work but I can access my web site through IE so I am closing this ticket.
  17. I think I may have it.can you tell me how to find out if my virtual hosts are there. Because I dont see any folders are anything to publish my website too
  18. well could you please tell me if this is right because I am getting a forbidden error when I try to access my localhost.... ###********************************************************* ###* Web-Developer Server Suite * ###* http://sourceforge.net/projects/webdeveloper * ###* devside_net@users.sourceforge.net * ###* v1.95-httpd22-ssl * ###********************************************************* ThreadsPerChild 250 MaxRequestsPerChild 0 Listen 80 ServerRoot "/www/Apache22" DocumentRoot "/www/webroot" ServerName localhost:80 ServerAdmin admin@localhost ErrorLog logs/error.log LogLevel error ### # 19. yeah I would think that but that didnt work. also, the other problem I have with the the virtual host module I added is it screwed up my access to the (localhost) parent directory which now gives me a Forbidden error when I type in localhost in the address bar??? could you tell me does my config file at least look right to you or not?
  20. yes, I just uploaded my first website to that folder with no problem and it is there but it doesnt view properly because it is not exactly in the root folder. So I do not know how to host one website but I am having a problem hosting more than one site. Maybe you can help me? Under my INDEX OF/ folder I have two folders one AWI and the other Reagan and I have two websites I would like to publish and host under each folder in the root but obviously that will not work; So the problem is I only know how to publish one webiste and host it under the INDEX OF/ folder properly without the links getting broken by the root directory. Do I have to set up a virtual host to do this? If so do you know where there are some easy instructions on how to do this? I have tried to set up virtual hosts but had some Forbidden errors? Or is there another way? here is how my parent directory looks: AWI/ 07-Aug-2007 08:26 - //one website Reagan/ 07-Aug-2007 08:23 - //the other website.but I now know this wont work apache_pb.gif 20-Nov-2004 16:16 2.3K apache_pb.png 20-Nov-2004 16:16 1.4K apache_pb22.gif 14-Dec-2005 12:25 2.4K apache_pb22.png 14-Dec-2005 12:25 1.5K apache_pb22_ani.gif 14-Dec-2005 12:25 2.2K aspsample/ 06-Aug-2007 15:38 - phpinfo.php 13-Dec-2006 23:37 21 webdeveloper.php 15-Dec-2006 12:12 83
  21. cool.that worked. now guess I should be able to post my websites through a FTP client to my specified folder on my Apache server?? thanks
  22. I am trying to access this through a loaclhost to see if the virtual hosts show up or if they are intsalled correctly?? I tried deleting teh deny from all in the directory section and that didnt work?
