Because it's a number, and I was under the impression you didn't have to put ticks around numbers (I could be wrong, of course). When I add ticks, I don't get an error, but there is no value in the user_id field. EDIT: I just realized I hadn't added session_start() to the beginning of my document! XP Thanks anyway.

I'm trying to run this query. My MySQL connection is fully functional and everything, but whenever I run this code -- $sql = "INSERT INTO topics(title, body, user_id) VALUES('" . $_POST['title'] . "', '" . $_POST['message'] . "', " . $_SESSION['USERID'] . ")"; mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); -- I get an error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ')' at line 1 I don't know if it's the fact that I'm using a session variable or what (I tested that the session variable was valid already). Does anybody know what's wrong? Thanks!
