plehelp

Hi Everyone, Sorry to sound like a stuck record, but I'm new to php and just starting to learn about web development. I'm trying to set up a testing server, and have installed wamp, but when I try to open php files, I keep getting a white screen. I'm tearing my hair out because I didn't want to annoy people by asking such a (what must be for you) basic question, but I need to now. I've gone through the installation process, and have the icon in the bottom right hand corner, and the server is running, but http://localhost/index.php and every other php page, tries to load, then brings up the option to open it in Dreamweaver, Internet Explorer or Notepad. I've tried the IE option, but the same happens again. I'm using vista. Thanks for your patience peeps.
