  1. It is my guess that I need to specify which folder it is in. The problem is, Im not quite sure how to do that. I read the help thing for downloading MySQL, and it sayed that I had to like make a new file called my.cnf or something with a little text in it to specifiy. All i need is some quick help on making this file to see if it will solve my problem. =P
  2. That may be my problem but Im not sure how to fix it. Like I said before Im not that tech savy. =P But here are my results: I ran the command and inputed 'e:' and pressed enter but noting happened. Then i typed in 'cd mysql/bin' and the response said, "the system cannot find the path specified" And just to be sure I then just typed in 'mysql' next and got the same response as before.
  3. After my above procedures seemed to fail I used the command and got this: E:\Documents and Settings\****\MYSQL 'MYSQL' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. So between bot this post and the last one, Im guessing something got mixed up and its trying to reach someplace that MySQL was not installed at. When I installed it, the default folder to install at was C:\ but my main drive that is used on my comp is the E:\ so I changed it to E:\mysql and that is where it installed currently. Any more suggestions? And thank you guys for the quick replies. I am glad I came to this forum.
  4. Not quite sure how to check my configuration, but I went to Services and checked to see if there was a MySQL running. I found one just named "MySQL" and it was not going, it was stoped. So I started it and and error poped up saying Could not start the MySQL service on Local Computer. Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified. -OK- So then I pressed 'OK' and right-clicked the programs to see the path it was going to. It is trying to go into E:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld" and that is not where I tried to install MySQL too. Is there anyway to change the path or make a new service with the right path?
  5. Ok, I ave ad MySQL running fine on this computer a few years ago. It got uninstalled and gone and te computer has been reformatted once or twice since then. But recently I tried to install MySQL again with SAM2 broadcaster. MySQL installed properly and fine, but after the installation is complete, and it goes back to the SAM2 installation I get an error that says: Unable to connect to MySQL. Please make sure that MySQL is installed AND running. Also make sure you are using the correct MySQL login information. -OK- I clicked 'OK' and looked back at the screen, and in the SAM2 screen it says: > MySQL was successfully installed at E:\mysql\ > Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) > Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061) This was using the root username and a blank password. I changed the password back when I had MySQL before so it should not matter, but I tried it anyway and got the same error. I am not a big techy person so I need some help cuz I am tired of looking for solutions that dont help. Thank you.
  6. I dont know where. That might be one of the errors I am having. Would there be a specific name for the file? like error.exe or something so that I can search a file with the name.
  7. I never moved anything at all, I kept it all when it was installed at. I looked around my C: drive and found like a notepad file named: mysqlbug, and another named: dbg_log Other than that theres not really anything that looks like it would tell me an error or something. (the dbg_log wasnt in the mysql folder)
  8. I used the search thing and typed in: .err and nothing poped up.
  9. How do I check error logs? (yes I am a noob at this stuff)
  10. That wierd. It seemed to be working fine the other day, but now when I try to open the mysqld.exe the window closes itself before I can see anything.
  11. The program stays open, but I cant type anything in it for some reason.
  12. the mysqld.exe thing seems to star fine. And I never changed the mysql settings at all, I left them at default. so what would the default ones be? Also, I knw it must be mysql cuz i just installed the sam4 trial with firebird ( since mysql doesnt work) and the program runs fine
  13. well, i tried the command thing but still nothing. You want me to just open the mysqld.exe file to get that little command thing? Also, its not a problem of installation its a problem with the program cuz it used to work fine, but for some reason it all of a sudden stoped connecting or whatever.
  14. I think I might be doing something wrong because nothing is happening still. ??? I'm using the command prompt and then entering the stuff and pressing enter, then it went to havin the documents and settings in the front, to the c:\mysql\bin the front where documents and setting was. and then i typed in mysqld and nothing happened
