is there a way to encrypt private messages using php? i know passwords can be encrypted using md5, but i have a custom made forum where users can send each other private messages and currently the messages are stored in plain text so I want to know how i can encrypt private messages.

I have 2 servers, one with Lighttpd and one with Nginx. Both running CentOS and website on server is built with PHP. Is there any way to limit the monthly bandwidth my servers use per month with lighttpd and nginx? I want to have a 4TB per month bandwidth limit for users visiting my website via http and https. Once the bandwidth limit is reached I want a message to be displayed saying something like "exceeded monthly bandwidth" or instead of displaying the message just shut my servers down.
