  1. I have had the same problem. The solution was that php 5.3 binaries are compiled without mssql support - if you do php_info() you will see that is was compiled without mssql support. I downloaded php 5.2 non thread safe binaries (zipped version) from php.net, replaced my c:\php folder's contents with that of the new download, restarted WWW (IIS) and voila, Bob was my uncle. (I am using Windows Web Server 2008 R2 with SQL Server 2008 Express)
