  1. Hey all ! Well, let me first start by saying im a 21 year old university student in the UK, just about to finish his second year ! I've joined because I've decided to take on a final year project for my 3rd year, involving PHP of course! Now, I've not got any real experience with PHP, so I'm a complete newbie and I worry a little whether I will actually be able to accomplish this project, but hey its meant to be challenging and something new to me ! Whats this project then ? - Well you know those price tracking websites.... an example is http://www.wii-consoles.co.uk/ - Now I want to do this also, but just focusing on 1 popular indemand product along with the various retailers... I know that website is done using ASP, but I've been told such a website can also be done in PHP and its easier as I don't have to learn C# for ASP. I aim to build the layout, design etc etc using HTML and CSS but I've no idea where to begin with the PHP side of things so it tracks the online retailers... One thing I wouldnt mind if it easy enough to implement is to monetize the website through affiliate marketing, so when a user clicks through, makes a purchase, I get a commision etc etc. I understand this has to go through a affiliate networks website. Now I am of course worrying if such a task is feasible for myself and in the timescale of an academic year, (and plus I've got the summer now to start learning PHP before the year starts) Anyways, thats the quick intro of me and what I would like to do, would be awesome if you all post up what you think, if Im being stupid taking on such a task etc etc Anyways, cheers all! I may be around for a long time to come !
