Should i download linux to use on my dell instead of windows?

I have never used linux before. is it good? would u recommend it over windows? if i were to do this how would i? links to downloads and guides are appreciated/ i have a sorta old pc thats kinda slow and doesnt have much on it. you think i should try using linux? :wtf:
