How do you hide the text in a browsers progress bar?

I meant the status bar, I did get it to working in FF, but it doesn't work in IE...

 

Here is what I have:

if you can, just forget the script. "setAttribute" doesn't work with IE. Add the attribute directly to your link.

 

Example:

<a href="pat/to/file.html" onmouseover="window.status=' '; return true;"></a>

(this also should work with javascript turned off)

      for(var i = 0; i < links.length; i++)
      {
         links[i].onmouseover = function()
         {
            window.status = "";
         }
      }
   }
</script>

OH, I take that back it does work, just needed to add return true; in there.

I was talking to Nightslyr, his code does work after I place return true; in there, not mine.
