an old client of mine who i had helped with a membership site contacted me that his hosting company ipower web, has upgraded to php 5 from 4, and now nothing works.

he indicated that the would no longer support version 4 which coo responds with php.net no longer supporting version 4.

I find it hard to believe that nothing now works.  has the upgrade been that extreme made that much of a difference in programming applications?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

as in:

nothing works = blank screen?

or

nothing works = loads of errors?

the differences i've found between 4 and 5 are fairly big but when i upgraded my server that's got a fair few sites on it, only a few "broke" but very minor and easy to fix issues. Often they were my site throwing 'Notices' due to the error reporting being set differently and the odd one or two things that threw Warning messages in PHP5 that didn't in PHP4.
