Get the specs out of the way:

MySQL Version: 4.0.27-standard

Query:

SELECT DAYNAME( `date` ) AS day, AVG('count') FROM (SELECT COUNT( * ) as 'count' , DAYNAME( `date` ) AS day FROM phonelog2 WHERE DAYNAME( `date` )="Monday" GROUP BY `date`) phonelog2

Error:

#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax.  Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'SELECT COUNT( * ) as 'count' , DAYNAME( `date` ) AS day FROM ph

I have a table of phone log information, one entry per call.  I'm trying to get the total count, then find the average of that per day.
