Need an FTP program (open source) that you don't have to install (NOT Filezilla)

Recommended Posts

Can someone recommend an open source FTP program that you don't have to install (i.e. be able to run stand alone)?

Filezilla: don't want.  Have tried, love to use, but has a big problem for me: keeps disconnecting after 5 minutes.

I've tried posting on their forums but haven't got an answer to solve my problem.

I've looked at the list given in the sticky but most programs you have to buy.

From th elist: FireFTP looks good.

Not sure if I can run as standalone.

Are there any others to conisder?

Thanks.

thanks for the reply.  much appreciated.

maybe i should have been more clear: i want an open source non installing ftp program.

open source: if from somewhere like sourceforge, i will hopefully get a robust program that has been well developed and importnatly is spamware and anyotherware free.

non installing: don't want to mess up my windows setup with a program that want to deposits bits of code all over the place.  (ok: call me paranoid!)

hence my posting here: asking for recommendations from others.

Do a search for Java FTP. You'll have better luck though I doubt most will be free. If you're that paranoid build your own in PHP. It can be done albeit not as smooth as an application based piece of software :)
