rubing
I just installed the most recent xubuntu on my compaq laptop. Everything went great! I have a USB wifi stick that is supposedly supported. (GigaFast WF748-CUI zd1211 chipset) Sure enough if I plug it in all of the networks are detected. However, it will not connect to any of them. Doesn't give me an ip address or anything. Moreover, some networks will show a signal strength of 0% even though they are close by. I'm kind of green when it comes to linux. any ideas??? rubing
Hey Thorpe, Turned out to be a bad wifi stick. :-( Anyways, everything seems to be working now, except when I have flash enabled and am browsing with firefox. I've seen alot of other complaints about Hardy Heron locking up/ crashing/ freezing b/c of Flash problems. Oh, well....I hope they fix this.
