dumdumsareyum
So far this seems to be working in ie7 and FF but ie 6 the main div is too big on the home page (if you visit the links page, or the calendar page, it works ok, but the main page incorporates another style sheet and I can't figure out why it's messing it up ) I can make the div wider and the content stretches but it won't shrink down past a certain point. So confused. The site is www.texaslost.com Here are the style sheets associated: Main site layout : /* Layout ------------ */ * { /* Reset browsers default margin, padding and font sizes */ margin: 0px; padding: 0px; } html { font-size: 100%; } Based on style: subSilver (the default phpBB 2 style) Original author: subBlue ( http://www.subBlue.com/ ) Modified by: psoTFX and the phpBB team ( http://www.phpbb.com ) This is an alternative style for phpBB3 for those wishing to stay with the familiar subSilver style of phpBB version 2.x Copyright 2006 phpBB Group ( http://www.phpbb.com/ ) -------------------------------------------------------------- */ /* Layout ------------ */ * { /* Reset browsers default margin, padding and font sizes */ margin: 0px; padding: 0px; } html { font-size: 100%; } body { /* Text-Sizing with ems: http://www.clagnut.com/blog/348/ */ font-family: "Lucida Grande", Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; color: #323D4F; background-color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 62.5%; /* This sets the default font size to be equivalent to 10px */ margin: 0; position: absolute; min-height: 100%; height: auto !important; height: 100%; background-color: #073a1b; background-image: url('forum/styles/subsilver2/theme/images/headerRight-background.jpg'); background-repeat: repeat-x; } h1, h2, h3 { font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-style: italic; } additional style sheet for homepage (listed first) /* Theme Name: WordPress Classic Theme URI: http://wordpress.org/ Description: The original WordPress theme that graced versions 1.2.x and prior. ToonMariner
http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=BoxModelHack the reason this is happening is because you have not used a doc type declaration that pushes ie6 into standards 'compliant' mode... dumdumsareyum
sweet! I found it.....the "credit" class with the wordpress credit in it still had a right margin of 225, which didn't matter for FF or IE7 but was increasing the width of the div for IE6 like the article was talking about.....I bet I would've found it sooner if I wasn't so sure that the sidebar was the cause of my trouble!--till I took that out and it was still broken. Thanks! Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/114068-solved-div-not-the-right-width-in-ie6/#findComment-587146 Share on other sites
