HomerTheDragoon
While I have been thinking about starting a small company with my brother on side(he's talented in the graphics portion), I was wondering about laws and taxes that I would have to deal with. If I were to do a job for a company and they wrote it off in their reports or w/e and they were to get audited, it would come back to me? And since I'm not paying taxes on these "services" I could get pretty screwed over correct? Unless theres something I'm missing here it seems extremely hard to get a company going legitimately. jcombs_31
Of course you'll have to pay taxes in some regard, but that depends on what type of company you decide to start. My suggestion is an S-Corporation.

next
Few things: 1) If you want to have a business name, you need to register a DBA 2) If you are a DBA you will need a business bank account registered for your business. 3) If you live in a city then you'll need a business license. 4) Of course you have to pay taxes, but only if you make more than $600 a year. You will also need to obtain EIN if you don't want to give away your SSN. Above apply only if you want to be legal, if not then you don't need any of those, only clients.
