Hello guy I'm beginning to redo my site. I would just like a little bit of feedback from a mass of people so I decided here was perfect.

All opinions are great post them all. I just need to know what we should change on the design.

Nav. with color v1

Nav. without color v1

v2 Nav. all have color:

The difference between 15 and 16 are the colors go with the navigation buttons.

Index orange-red v2

Work green v2

We decided to redo the banner for v2 but I want opinions on both and on the new banner.

Thanks in advance.

first off, I like the overall design. It's simple yet classy. No my thoughts:

14 feels to pale but it epmhasizes what page you're one a lot better than the others. Perhaps a design like 15/16 but where the inactive link boxes are dimmed down so they're less conspicuous than the active link. As for the logo, I personally prefer the one used in 13 and 14.

I look forward to seeing the end result.

I like the colors in 15 and the logo in 13.  I think if you use the colored menu then the blue leaves the site feeling unbalanced. Your eye goes to the bright  menu and away from anything else. Bringing in the orange helps even things out. I guess you could change the colors on each page depending on the link color which it seems you are playing with.  I'd say get rid of the top/bottom borders on the left column header. Overall, looks ok, but seems pretty small.  I've made the decision not to cater to 800x600 any longer.  I think 1024 is the norm these days.

I didn't want my website to be huge. This size is great for all users and it contains all info that I need. I am playing with the color scheme idea with the nav. I think it looks good so far. I don't know if I would get rid of the borders because the add the color without them the site would look rather dull.

  • 3 weeks later...

Anybody else?

I know I'm late to the party.. but here's my take..

I like the colours of the dates in versions 15 & 16, but I really like the top header logo in version 13 / 14 more.

As someone else mentioned, 1024x768 seems to be the new minimum standard these days (especially given the widescreen monitors these days becoming the standard). This is not to say your layout feels tight.. but I would consider a wider format.. let everything breath a little more.. give you more design space to play around with.

I think for my final thought (and this is no biggie) when dealing with placeholder text, consider http://www.lipsum.com/ if you want more convincing bluffed text.

Cheers,

NRG

i would go with:

as top navigation color have symmetry with rest of the site. However on rest of pages there are more colors which create confusion for users.

Well over all design is good and well organized
