jaymc
Does anyone know of an API which can retreieve someones msn, gmail, yahoo contact list I have one which works via PHP but its a bit slow and requires them to enter there email and password Im pretty sure Msoft etc have released a special API which interacts with the client if its open and connected I think facebook and myspace use it for reffering friends Is there such an API? If so, where can I get it? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/117199-messaging-contact-list/ Share on other sites
Daniel0
Why would there exist a such thing? That information might be considered confidential by the user and therefore it would be pretty ridiculous releasing it via a developer API. All they do is require your email username and password and they grab your contact list from that (e.g. by logging in as you.) jaymc
Im pretty sure myspace has something that gets it if you are logged in to msn, but requires you to "Submit" to send them the details I read somewhere a while back about microsoft making an API Perhaps I'm wrong, it does seem stupid Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/117199-messaging-contact-list/#findComment-603157 Share on other sites
GingerRobot
Perhaps. I just took a look at MySpace (eugh, i'd forgotten what a truly awful site it is) and it does indeed seem that they now require you to login back at microsoft's website and then it somehow transfers the contact list. I'd really not call that an API though. Looks like it's a similar thing with facebook too. Looks far more user friendly on facebook though. Nothing new there i suppose.
