I changed a line in my php.ini file:

  error_reporting = E_ALL

to

  error_reporting = E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE

After that, I sent the 'reboot' command via ssh.  After rebooting, it's serving up an old index.php file, and no other files.  I've deleted the entire contents of my www folder, and it still serves up this old index.php file.  I tried changing the php.ini file back, and still no success.  This makes no sense to me.  Does anybody have an idea what happened?  Could I have somehow told apache to use a different root folder?

Thanks!

The php.ini has nothing to do with Apache so its hard to imagine what may have happened. Theres no need to reboot the entire machine after changing a php.ini configuration though, just the Apache server itself. Maybe your machine has somehow reverted to a default Apache config.

Can we see your httpd.conf file? Usually within /etc/apache2 or somewhere similar.
