[SOLVED] Temp Free Hosting

If I upload my site to free host and link my domain to it, will I run into any problems in the future when I actually put it on a paid-for host? Am I going to have to jump through any hoops to change where my domain directs to?

Ok. I only ask because the free host I was looking at (freehostia) asked for the domain itself but and I was wondering why since it should be done with godaddy's DNS server, not anything with freehostia. They never emailed me my link though so I'll look for a different one for the time being.

Thanks :)

They will probably want you to use their DNS servers. For instance, if their control panel allows you to create a subdomain then they would automatically update their DNS server to add a corresponding CNAME or A record on the zone file. If you did not use their DNS servers then you would have to update that information yourself. You can safely use their DNS servers and then just change it to something else when you move host. Generally you should allow for up to 72 hours for the changes to propagate across the internet, but I've often found that it will work within a few hours actually.
