adam291086
All i know is that you will need a phone suppler i.e O2 or Vodaphone to send the message. Then you will need a modem to send the message to the supplier for them to distribute it Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/120349-send-sms-from-website/#findComment-620062 Share on other sites
Mchl
Then you will need a modem to send the message to the supplier for them to distribute it Not necessarily. There are internet gateways as well. I know an operator who allows sending sms through e-mails. Might be a way. imarockstar
Um ... SMS is an email ... so you can send a SMS to anyones phone (who have texting available and are paying for it) .. send an email to your phone .. and you will receive it. Works the same way in return .. instead of texting a number .. text a message to your email .. you will receive it. Mchl
SMS is not an email. There needs to be a gateway between the two. Many carriers provide such gateways, so people treat it as granted. imarockstar
well all I was saying is that you could send an email to almost any cell number .... pending on there service if they can get SMS or not ... also depends on if you want the SENDER to be an actual phone number or show up as an email .. How many were you wanting to send off at a time ? b Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/120349-send-sms-from-website/#findComment-636636 Share on other sites
mikeschroeder
as imarockstar pointed out, send them via email. No cost to you, but possibly will cost the recipient money depending on their service coverage. Here are some common ones for U.S. Carriers. http://www.sms411.net/2006/07/how-to-send-email-to-phone.html I have seen similar lists for international carriers as well. JonnoTheDev
Not all people can receive email on a phone but all CAN receive SMS! Get an SMS provider. You can usually buy credits suited to the amount of recipients. They also deal with message unsubscription. It is LAW that users have that option. Mchl
It is LAW that users have that option. I wish this was valid worldwide (or at least 'this-part-of-world-wide') Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/120349-send-sms-from-website/#findComment-636880 Share on other sites
discomatt
I agree with some of the above... use a paid SMS gateway. Almost all cellco's charge for text messages received by e-mail (via http://www.sms411.net/2006/07/how-to-send-email-to-phone.html). A great way to piss off a potential customer.
