phpmyadmin, root privileges and password update

Hello everyone

I have a problem with phpmyadmin, which I have searched over the net and in this forum but I cannot find the right answer.  I am having trouble with myphpadmin root showing no privileges; since I don’t have other superusers I cannot create or edit any databases. I lost it in one daft moment when I accidentally deleted while I thought I was updating a password.

I can log in but I have no privileges option.

The problem is this,

I need to restore privileges to root, so I can access the section where I can add and edit user account settings as to allow me control over the databases.

The next important is I have to change the password of root, but without that privileges section I don’t know how, I am sure you have to run certain sql commands. I don’t want to make things worse than I made them already.

I would appreciate some help and apologies if this has been touched on, I have searched through the whole forum but I can’t specific answer to what I am looking for,

Thanks
