bbcode buttons

im trying to add my buttons like the ones on starting a new topic so a user can use bbcode

 

currently i have 

<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="surroundText('', ''); return false;"><img style="border: none;" src="url.gif" alt="enterurl" /></a>

 

i think there is something wrong here onclick="surroundText('', '');

I testing your code with the following

<script type="text/javascript">
	function surroundText(param1,param2){
		alert(" param1: "+param1+" param2: "+param2);
	}
</script>
<a href="javascript:void(0);" onclick="surroundText('value1', 'value2'); return false;"><img style="border: none;" src="url.gif" alt="enterurl" /></a>

this seems to work properly and doesnt produce any errors. so I'm guessing something is wrong with your function " surroundText"

would it need to be something like onclick="surroundText('', '', something here?? like page.php ?)
