Castigador
Okay, I doubt anybody would have this problem. I have looked through a few topics on this issue, but not of them are close to mines. My problem is that awhile back on my Laptop I had the XAMPP server bundle installed and had port 80 forwarded to that particular IP. I am running on a wireless network using Linksys WRT54G. I had port 80 forwarded to my Laptop and it worked fine and everything! I bought a desktop and uninstalled XAMPP off my Laptop and now I am trying to get XAMPP's apache up on port 80, but doesn't seem to work. I have removed that port off my router settings and port forwarded 80 to my desktop so it should work properly, but it doesn't seem to work. I read over something about vhosts and listen servers, believe me I have tried all that! I have my server on port 8080 at the moment and it seems to work fine with 8080, it is just 80 doesn't want to work with my desktop or apache! I have tried resetting the router to default settings by pressing reset button on back of my router and then tried port forwarding again, but same results.. doesn't work. Any help would be appreciated! Thank you Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/127144-i-cant-get-apache-to-work/ Share on other sites
corbin
Have you disabled any firewall protection on 80 on the desktop? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/127144-i-cant-get-apache-to-work/#findComment-657734 Share on other sites
Castigador
Do you want me to disable or enable? I have like Avast Anti-Virus running, not sure if that has firewall or not. But I had AVG on my laptop and it worked fine. corbin
You need to make sure nothing is blocking port 80. I'm guessing you're on Windows if you're running Avast. Next guess: Vista? If you're on Vista, or even XP maybe, you'll need to allow port 80 through the Windows firewall.
