neogranas Posted October 22, 2008 Share Posted October 22, 2008 Just a shot in the dark, but try changing the 127... line in your /etc/hosts file to : 127.0.0.1 domain.com localhost I think that is your problem, you aren't specifying a domain name in that file. So it can't get the "fully qualified domain name" because it can't find an actual domain name. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
trq Posted October 22, 2008 Share Posted October 22, 2008 You need to add www.mikesgreatgifts.com to your hosts file to be able to access the site. And This.... Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.1.1 for ServerName Is caused by the fact that your machines hostname is not set properly. Your host file should look more like... 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 127.0.1.1 mike-server 127.0.0.1 www.mikesgreatgifts.com # The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts ::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback fe00::0 ip6-localnet ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix ff02::1 ip6-allnodes ff02::2 ip6-allrouters ff02::3 ip6-allhosts Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

trq Posted October 22, 2008 Share Posted October 22, 2008 Didn't even see that. Change the 127.0.1.1 to 127.0.0.1 within /etc/hosts What is the output of .... $ hostname --fqdn ? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

SLEDGEHAMMER84 Posted October 22, 2008 Author Share Posted October 22, 2008 I made the Changes specified. I have tried to acess the sites from a remote machine and locally. I already registered the domains and pointed to the servers static ip. I was able to access my first site remotely through the web, until i messed up the configuration trying to enable the second one. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

trq Posted October 22, 2008 Share Posted October 22, 2008 Ok, nowhere in your config have you set NameVirtualHost. The best place to put this (IMO), because it needs to be prior to any VirtualHost directive is just prior to these lines.... # Include the virtual host configurations: Include /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/ within your /etc/apache2/apache2.conf file. They are the last two lines. So they would then be..... NameVirtualHost * # Include the virtual host configurations: Include /etc/apache2/sites-enabled/ Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

trq Posted October 22, 2008 Share Posted October 22, 2008 So.. you are unable to connect locally am I correct? I don't see anything wrong within your configurations, neither does Apache so.... Really not sure where to go from here. Your going to need to take a look at the error logs. sudo tail -n 200 /var/log/apache/error.log Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

SLEDGEHAMMER84 Posted October 22, 2008 Author Share Posted October 22, 2008 I just tried replacing the subfolder( because of the errors in the log) and still no luck. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
trq Posted October 23, 2008 Share Posted October 23, 2008 Its likely a permissions issue then. Apache can't even write to the log files it would seem. What is the output of.... ls -l /home/mike ls -l /home/mike/www Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
SLEDGEHAMMER84 Posted October 23, 2008 Author Share Posted October 23, 2008 Ok Here are the permissions of the files root@mike-server:~# ls -l /home/mike total 40 drwxr-xr-x 3 mike mike 4096 2008-09-14 19:38 Desktop drwxr-xr-x 2 mike mike 4096 2008-09-08 10:15 Documents lrwxrwxrwx 1 mike mike 26 2008-09-11 14:04 Examples -> /usr/share/example-content drwxr-xr-x 3 mike mike 4096 2008-09-25 19:43 files drwxr-xr-x 2 mike mike 4096 2008-09-08 10:15 Music -rw------- 1 root root 2144 2008-09-15 11:29 (null) drwxr-xr-x 2 mike mike 4096 2008-09-08 10:15 Pictures drwxr-xr-x 2 mike mike 4096 2008-09-08 10:15 Public drwxr-xr-x 2 mike mike 4096 2008-09-08 10:15 Templates drwxr-xr-x 2 mike mike 4096 2008-09-08 10:15 Videos drwxr-xr-x 4 mike mike 4096 2008-10-17 11:12 www root@mike-server:~# ls -l /home/mike/www total 8 drwxr-xr-x 5 mike mike 4096 2008-10-17 10:52 www.mendezmartialarts.com drwxr-xr-x 17 mike root 4096 2008-10-22 17:50 www.mikesgreatgifts.com root@mike-server:~# Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
trq Posted October 23, 2008 Share Posted October 23, 2008 Well, I'm afraid I don't see any problems there either. You don't have a firewall blocking port 80? Whats the output of.... sudo iptables -L ? Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
