BoltZ
I am making forum software and I need feedback on this installation. the link is in my signature. With the text Installation wizard then the image don't mind it. I gave up on it as the image has way to much white space to the right side, + its the wrong image. So don't mind that image and its placement. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/130946-feedback-needed-on-forum-installation/ Share on other sites

JasonLewis
I guess it's supposed to do nothing? You need more options. Like what about my database name? And host? And username? And password? Also an option for a prefix is good, if you've coded one in. What else.. Perhaps start with a page saying welcome to the installation. Then the first step should be paths to the script and the name of the forum. Then a next step button should take you to MySQL setup, where you enter the fields I mentioned above. Then the next step button would take you to the administration setup page. After that, the last step should gather all the information and display it to the user for confirmation. Then on the finish installation it should install it all. I dont wnat a million pages in installation like others. I wantinstallation to be a 2 page process, that simple and fast. but i would also like critique on the design of it right now. I have finished with the first step i nthe installation process, now i just need to run the sql code with the boards table prefix thing. then I need to write code to automatically delete every file in the install directory so the user doesnt have to do it himself. Hows that for user friendly? Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/130946-feedback-needed-on-forum-installation/#findComment-680394 Share on other sites
