Php/MySQL help

Hi guys.

I have what I am sure for many of you is a basic php/mysql question.

I am new to php/mysql, and I am trying to build a small website (just for testing and learning).

Before I go on, I have to say that I have been looking every where to find the answer, but I couldn't. I think the reason is because I didn't know what question to ask, so here it is.

So far I was able to create a database using phpMyAdmin, add Tables with information in them, and finally, using Dreamweaver CS4, I was able to display the information by connecting to the Database, using Recordset and such. So far so good.

 

Now, I would like to be able to Link the results to other pages.

I have a list of 8 users that are populated automatically on the page using {rs_users.userName} . In the code version it shows as <?php echo $row_rs_users['userName']; ?>

My problem is, how do I go by selecting the listed users individually, so that I can add a specific link to a page for each of the users?

Using a database query on the primary key.

You can sent the key as a URL parameter i.e

<a href="user.php?id=23">Joe Bloggs</a>

 

You really need to get a book if you are this new to PHP

Dump Dreamweaver and learn the code.

Good advice. Dreamweaver generates code that is utter garbage when you use its GUI interface. Stick to the code view and learn it yourself.

I know, I should probably learn the coding first. I thought Dreamweaver was going to be helpful because I am so used to WYSIWYG software.
