xunderdog
I have a pretty major problem going on with my Linux EEEPC 2g Surf (512mb). I was installing some updates and software onto my laptop and after I restarted my computer (to run Desktop Mode), my computer informed me that it was out of memory. And now it won't start up. Is there anything I can do that won't cost me a new harddrive? The computer turns on long enough to go to the screen that you can press F2 or TAB and then it starts to load and the computer screen keeps restarting. Once in awhile, I see a black "x" in the middle of the screen, which I assume is the desktop trying to load. But then it seems to restart itself again. People have suggested that I hook my laptop up to a Linux PC (which I don't have) to delete some files. But, that's not possible as I don't have one. Is there ANYTHING I can do to get access to my computer to delete files? Would a flash drive work temporarily, just to gain access to the files on the harddrive and delete them? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks. Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/134604-laptop-keeps-restarting-says-out-of-memory/ Share on other sites
steviewdr
You can get a liveCD to work on it. You'll need to make a LiveUSB however. Fedora and backtrack have utilities which can make a LiveUSB which you can boot off and look at your files on your eeepc. -steve Quote Link to comment https://forums.phpfreaks.com/topic/134604-laptop-keeps-restarting-says-out-of-memory/#findComment-701195 Share on other sites
