Yesideez
I'm running a website with lots of retro software for free download. I'd like to limit the amount of downloads a user can make in 24 hours to something like 30 files. The only way I can think of so far is to log the IP of the downloader for each file they grab and if there's a total of X amount within 24 hours redirect them to a "you must wait" page. I know people can go behind a proxy - doesn't concern me. Are there any other ways of doing this?
corillo181
well if they are no require a membership is really hard to limit anything, and people that download thing they usually know how to go behind any restriction if they not a member. so just use the ip even tho it wont last long, and use also a session and a cookie.
