[SOLVED] Changing CSS Display Shifts entire Webpage Down

Hi All,

Hopefully I'm asking this in the right place-- this may be more of a CSS/HTML question.

I currently have a DIV at the top of my webpage, with it's style as "none."

<div id='confirm' style="Display:none;"><p>'.$id.' Has Been Updated</p></div>

Anyway, I have a little function that changes the display to "block" when an action occurs with database.  Doing so, it display the DIV fine.  However, it moves the "entire" page (meaning the rest of my DIVS) downward.

This is kind of an eyesore when everything moves like that.

Could someone perhaps point me in the right direction on how to have it display in a designated area without adjusting the rest of the elements on the webpage?

Thank very much.

Thanks for the reply.  But what if I don't want it at the bottom of the page?  ;)  I'd like it to display at the top.  Kinda like on GMail, when you archive an email, the message displays at the top without moving the entire page down.

How would I achieve such a feat?
